Scheduled to open in 2022, the Mandarin Oriental Phuket will occupy 9.5 hectares of land in Laem Singh Bay on the west coast of Phuket island.
Laem Singh Beach is one of Phuket’s most beautiful beaches and hides on the west coast between Kamala and Surin beaches. Being nestled in a steep-sided bay, lined with nodding palm trees and dotted with giant boulders, it has the feel of a secret beach. It’s not a very well-kept secret, though, as it’s overlooked by a popular viewpoint along the coastal road.
The northern part of the beach is good for body-boarding. The swimming and snorkelling is excellent in the southern part, with loads of fish to see around the rocky headland which separates the beach from Kamala Bay.
The hotel’s 105 rooms, including 37 pool villas, will offer guests panoramic views of the Andaman Sea.
The site itself includes a white sand beach with rocky outcrops, providing excellent access for snorkelling and swimming.
The Mandarin Oriental Phuket facilities will include three restaurants and bars, a range of flexible function facilities, a spa, fitness centre and two outdoor swimming pools. A kid’s club and a host of outdoor leisure pursuits will also be available.
James Riley, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental said, “Phuket is one of Asia’s leading leisure destinations and we are delighted to have found such a special site on which to develop our resort. The group’s established reputation and experience in delivering award-winning service and facilities at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, when combined with this stunning new property, will provide guests a unique proposition for a luxury visit to the entrancing Kingdom of Thailand. We look forward to working with our partners to create this.”
The resort is around 30-minutes by car from Phuket International Airport.
The popular coastal city will be the third Vietnamese destination on the airline’s rapidly expanding global network
The four-times weekly flights will be served with Boeing 787-8 aircraft, featuring 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said, “Our existing services to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are already incredibly popular. Every day, thousands of passengers experience a seamless connection between flights through our state-of-the-art Doha hub at Hamad International Airport, and now we have made it even easier for travellers to reach these increasingly popular Asian destinations. We look forward to enabling our passengers to experience the beautiful coastal scenery of Danang and will continue to explore opportunities to expand further in the Far East.”
Qatar Airways began direct services to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) in 2007 and launched its Hanoi service in 2010. Currently, the airline provides double daily direct flights to Vietnam’s capital city and 10 times weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh.
In October 2017, Qatar Airways signed an interline agreement with Vietnam-based Vietjet Air, allowing Qatar Airways’ passengers to travel to and from points in Vietnam not served directly by Qatar Airways using a single reservation across both airlines’ networks.
Director of Danang Tourism Department, Mr. Ngo Quang Vinh, said: “Danang is becoming increasingly popular among tourists, and has experienced extraordinary development since 2008. As of June 2018, Danang has welcomed the presence of 24 international airlines, operating 15 frequent direct flights to and from overseas destinations. We are delighted to welcome Qatar Airways, the award-winning airline playing a crucial role in strengthening the connection of Danang to the world. We are looking forward to welcoming more tourists to Danang, and we will continue our efforts to transform Danang into an outstanding global destination.”
Danang, one of the largest cities in Vietnam, has seen a tremendous increase in the number of visitor arrivals, with a record-breaking 6.6 million tourists in 2017, doubling the figure in 2013.

Scheduled to open in Q1 2020, the three-story Park Inn by Radisson Phuket Town will form part of a mixed-use development featuring shops and dining outlets.
The hotel will enjoy a prime location next to Highway 402 – Phuket’s main north-south highway and a major commercial corridor.
Park Inn by Radisson will make its Thailand debut with the opening of a brand-new hotel in Phuket Town, the island’s provincial capital and cultural heart.
“Park Inn by Radisson is an exceptional brand that promises world-class hospitality in the upper midscale segment. That makes it a perfect fit for Phuket, which is rapidly evolving from an upscale resort island into a diverse, all-year-round tourism destination. Park Inn by Radisson Phuket Town will provide a great option for guests seeking high levels of convenience and connectivity,” said Katerina Giannouka, President, Asia Pacific, Radisson Hotel Group.
Park Inn by Radisson Phuket Town will feature at least 130 rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, a restaurant and fitness centre.
The hotel will be close to major shopping malls such as Central Festival Phuket, King Power Duty Free Store and Blu Pearl, The Mall Group’s multi-billion-baht lifestyle development which features multiple retail outlets, a water park, convention centre and theatre. The Temples, museums and classical architecture of Phuket Town are also just moments away.
“Phuket is famous for its stunning beaches, but an increasing number of visitors are now being attracted by the island’s retail and lifestyle offerings. Park Inn by Radisson Phuket Town will be well suited to this segment, including shoppers, business travellers and culture seekers. We are proud to work with Radisson Hotel Group to bring the Park Inn by Radisson brand to Thailand,” commented Chairat Mepremwattana, Managing Director, Multi Property Development Co., Ltd.
Park Inn by Radisson Phuket Town becomes the brand’s fourth location in Southeast Asia, following Park Inn by Radisson Davao and Park Inn by Radisson Clark in the Philippines, and Park Inn by Radisson Putrajaya in Malaysia.
